3 more die with measles symptoms, death toll nears 1,000
Three more people have died with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of deaths from confirmed measles and measles-like symptoms in the country this year has reached 997, including 100 from confirmed measles and 897 from measles-like symptoms.
The information was provided in the regular health bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services on Monday (September 7). It said two people died with measles symptoms in the Dhaka division in the 24 hours from 8am on Sunday. During this period, 1,216 new patients with measles symptoms were admitted to various hospitals across the country.
Division-wise, in the last 24 hours, 468 patients were admitted in Dhaka division, 30 in Rajshahi, 155 in Sylhet, 249 in Chattogram, 135 in Barishal, 86 in Mymensingh, 79 in Khulna and 14 in Rangpur.
According to the DGHS, a total of 145,270 patients with measles symptoms have been admitted to hospitals across the country so far this year. Of them, 139,831 have been discharged after treatment.
Since March 15, the total number of suspected measles patients in the country has reached 165,304, of whom 19,756 have been confirmed infected.
