3 more die with measles symptoms, death toll reaches 986
Three more people have died with measles symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours. However, no deaths from confirmed measles were reported during this period. Over 1,044 new cases of measles and measles-like symptoms were detected in the same timeframe.
The information was provided in a press release from the Directorate General of Health Services on Thursday, September 3. It said that in the 24 hours from Wednesday morning, 964 suspected and 80 confirmed measles cases were reported nationwide .
According to DGHS statistics, from March 15 to September 3, a total of 161,148 people have shown measles symptoms, of whom 19,527 have been confirmed through testing.
During this period, 887 people have died with measles symptoms, and 99 have died after being confirmed with measles. In total, the death toll from measles and its symptoms has reached 986.
The press release also noted that a total of 141,449 suspected patients have been hospitalised since March 15, of whom 136,405 have recovered and been discharged.
