3 more die with measles symptoms in 24 hours, 1,300 hospitalised
Three more people have died with measles symptoms across the country in 24 hours. With this, 102 people have died of confirmed measles and 1,023 with measles symptoms in the current year. In total, the number of deaths from measles and its symptoms stands at 1,125.
The information was provided in the regular health bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services on Sunday, October 4. It said two people died with measles symptoms in Dhaka alone in the 24 hours from 8am on Saturday. During this time, 1,300 new patients with measles and symptoms came to various hospitals across the country.
On a divisional basis, in the last 24 hours, 496 people were admitted to hospital in Dhaka division, 19 in Rajshahi, 131 in Sylhet, 278 in Chattogram, 128 in Barishal, 109 in Mymensingh, 75 in Khulna and 64 in Rangpur.
According to DGHS data, a total of 174,149 patients with measles symptoms have been admitted to various hospitals across the country from March 15 of the current year to date. Among them, 166,908 have left hospital after treatment.
The number of suspected measles patients in the country from March 15 to date stands at 196,418. Among them, 21,748 have been confirmed with measles.
