Three teenage boys were killed after being run over by a train while sitting on railway tracks in Mirsarai upazila of Chattogram on Thursday night (June 19).

The incident took place around 9:00pm near the BSRM factory in the Sonapahar area, according to local authorities.

The deceased were identified as Md Arafat, 18, Mohammad Anis, 18, and Mohammad Riaz, 18—all residents of Sonapahar and employed as vehicle helpers. Locals who witnessed the aftermath rushed the trio to the Zorarganj Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.

“There were signs of broken bones and deep injuries on multiple parts of their bodies,” said Dr Mohammad Ershad Ullah of the health complex. “All three were brought in dead.”

Relatives reportedly took the bodies away from the hospital before police could arrive.

Chattogram Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge SM Shahidul Islam said the youths were sitting on the tracks and chatting when the train hit them. “They apparently did not realize a train was approaching. We are yet to confirm which train was involved in the accident,” he added.

An investigation is currently underway.
