3 unidentified bodies wash ashore on Ukhiya sea beach

Police have recovered the bodies of three unidentified persons from the sea beach adjacent to Marine Drive in Ukhiya of Cox’s Bazar. The bodies were recovered from Madarbunia and Monkhali areas of Jaliapalong union under the upazila around 11:30am and 3pm on Wednesday (September 23).

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ukhiya Police Station Atikur Rahman Majumder has confirmed the matter.

He informed that local people saw two bodies lying on Monkhali sea beach around 3pm. Getting the news members of Inani police outpost went to the spot and recovered the two bodies. The bodies were found at a distance of about 500 metres.

Earlier another body was recovered from Madarbunia boat ghat area of the same union around 11:30am.

OC Atikur Rahman Majumder informed that it was not possible to identify the identities of the three bodies immediately. It is being verified whether any of them are among the missing persons from the trawler sinking incident on Baharchhara coast of Teknaf on September 21.

Police informed that a trawler carrying Rohingyas sank while entering Bangladesh from Myanmar by sea route. In that incident one woman and one child died. Later the Coast Guard and local people rescued several persons alive. One woman was missing in this incident.

Police informed that the process of taking legal measures in two separate incidents is under way.
