3 women secure spots in cabinet
Lawmakers elected from the BNP, which secured a landslide victory in the 13th National Parliamentary Election, took oath as Members of Parliament on Tuesday morning.
Later in the afternoon, members of the new cabinet were sworn in at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
A total of 49 cabinet members took the oath, including 25 full ministers and 24 state ministers. The new 50-member cabinet has been formed under the leadership of Tarique Rahman.
The cabinet includes three women and three technocrats appointed under the technocrat quota.
The three women in the cabinet are -- Afroza Khanam, who has been appointed as a full minister, and Shama Obaid Islam and Farzana Sharmin, who have been sworn in as state ministers.
