3 women's hair cut off on theft charges in Narayanganj

Three women were caught, tied up and tortured on charges of theft in a house in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj. There have also been allegations of their hair being cut off. The incident took place in the Dahargaon area of ​​the upazila on Monday (March 2) morning.

Police said that locals caught three women red-handed when they tried to steal a gold chain from the house of Selim Mia in the Dahargaon area. Later, they were tied up with ropes and beaten and at one stage their hair was cut off with scissors. The video of the incident went viral on social media.

The arrested women are - Sumaiya Akhter, wife of Babu Mia of Jahapur area of ​​Muradnagar Thana in Comilla, Iti Akhter, wife of Sujan Mia of Dighlia area of ​​Khalishpur Thana in Khulna, and Sharmin, wife of Ruhul Amin of Baliapara area.

Narayanganj Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Mehedi Islam said that there is a legal punishment for theft. However, tying someone up and beating them and cutting their hair are punishable offenses. Upon receiving the information, the police went to the spot, rescued the three women and brought them to the police station.

He also said that the three have been taken into police custody. Necessary legal action will be taken in this regard after discussing with the higher authorities.
