3 youths killed in Narsingdi road crash

Three motorcyclists were killed when a bus ran them over in Shibpur of Narsingdi.

The accident occurred at 11 pm on Monday (June 9) at the Bandardia petrol pump area on the Itakhola-Shibpur regional road in Shibpur upazila.

The deceased are Saiful Islam, 22, son of Jamal Uddin of Mirzakandi village in Machimpur union in Shibpur upazila, Ashiq, 22, son of Badruddin of the same village, and Apu, 20, son of Babul Mia.

Police, fire service and eyewitnesses said that three friends went to Narsingdi on a motorcycle to buy sports equipment. On their way home, around 11 pm, when they reached the Bandardia petrol pump on the Itakhola-Shibpur road in the upazila, a bus from the opposite direction, ran over their motorcycle and sped away. All three friends on the motorcycle were seriously injured. At that time, local people and fire service personnel arrived at the scene and took the injured to Shibpur Upazila Sadar Hospital. Later, the doctor on duty declared Saiful and Ashiq dead. Injured Apu was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He also died on the way to Dhaka Medical College.

Shibpur Fire Service Superintendent Ismail Hossain confirmed the three deaths.

In this regard, Shibpur Model Police Station Duty Officer Hosneyara Begum said that the bodies of the three deceased are at the police station. The process of sending the three bodies to the morgue is underway.
