The 30th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) 2026 kicked off on Saturday (January 3) at the Bangladesh–China Friendship Exhibition Centre (BCFEC) in Purbachal under Rupganj of Narayanganj.

Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin officially inaugurated the month-long event, marking the fifth time the fair has been held at the permanent venue.

Speaking at the inauguration at 11:00am, Sheikh Bashir Uddin wished the fair full success. The event will run until January 31, open daily from 9:00am to 9:00pm.

Organised jointly by the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), the inauguration was attended by EPB Vice Chairman and Additional Secretary Mohammad Hasan Arif, FBCCI Administrator and Additional Secretary Mohammad Abdur Rahim Khan, and Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman.

The fair, originally scheduled to open on January 1, was postponed to January 3 following a three-day national mourning declared after the death of former prime minister and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.

The 30th DITF, Bangladesh’s largest product exhibition, features 324 pavilions, stalls, and restaurants, including 11 foreign pavilions from six countries—India, Turkey, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

Polythene bags and single-use plastics have been banned, with eco-friendly shopping bags supplied at subsidised rates through the Ministry of Textiles and Jute as alternatives.

To facilitate visitor access, over 200 dedicated BRTC shuttle buses will operate daily from Kuril, Farmgate (Khejurbagan/Khamarbari), Narayanganj, and Narsingdi starting at 8:00 am.

Since 1995, DITF has traditionally opened on January 1 each year. The Bangladesh–China Friendship Exhibition Centre has served as the permanent venue since 2022, and this year marks the fifth fair held at Purbachal.
