325 bullets from 1971 found buried in Naogaon
Police have recovered 325 bullets buried underground in a pumpkin field in Deulia village of Badalgachhi upazila, Naogaon.
According to local sources, labourers felt something hard beneath the soil while fixing bamboo poles in the field in Adhaipur union on Sunday morning. After digging up to about one foot deep, they found the bullets inside a wooden box. Police were informed and later recovered the bullets from the scene.
Field owner Zaidul Islam said he had been cultivating the land on a mortgage for a long time.
Badalgachhi Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Nazrul Islam said the recovered bullets are of three-not-three rifles. Based on the type and deteriorated condition of the bullets, it is initially believed they date back to Bangladesh's 1971 Liberation War.
The bullets have rusted due to being underground for a long time. They are currently in police custody, and necessary legal proceedings are ongoing.
