34 students sit HSC exam under special arrangement in Rajshahi

Thirty-four students who could not sit for the regular Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations took their tests under a special arrangement at a centre in Rajshahi.

The examination began at 10am at Rajshahi New Government Degree College and continued until 1pm today (August 24).

Of the 37 students scheduled to appear, three were absent, according to authorities.

The candidates sat for Bangla First Paper, Logic First Paper and Physics First Paper examinations. Among those who attended, 30 were male and four were female.

Dr Robiul Islam, convener of the HSC examination centre, said the Rajshahi Education Board had earlier instructed the college to arrange the examination for students who had been unable to take a particular HSC test.

"Preparations were completed and the board was informed. The examination was held on Monday," he said, adding that he could not confirm whether any further examinations would be arranged.

According to board officials, the special arrangement was made for candidates who missed their examinations due to natural disasters. The board had asked eligible students to register for the special examination, officials said.

The 2026 HSC examinations under the Rajshahi Education Board began on July 2. A total of 140,830 students registered for the examinations this year, including 73,057 male and 67,773 female students.

The examinations are being held at 208 centres across eight districts under the board.

Professor Iffat Zerin, controller of examinations at the Rajshahi Education Board, confirmed that the special examination was held at New Government Degree College, with 37 candidates originally scheduled to appear.
