Police have filed a case against 3,000–3,500 unidentified individuals for attacking law enforcement officers and vandalising government vehicles during a violent incident at Nurul Haque, also known as Nural Pagla’s Darbar in Rajbari's Goalanda.

Goalanda Ghat Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Selim Molla filed the case on early Saturday (September 6).

According to police, the violence erupted after Jumma prayers when protesters under the banner of Iman Aqida Raksha Committee gathered at Shaheed Fakir Mohiuddin Ansar Club. Following speeches, the crowd attempted to march towards the Darbar, prompting police and local administration to intervene.

The mob allegedly vandalised official vehicles of the Goalanda UNO, the additional police superintendent, and the local OC. At least five policemen and two administration officials were injured after being pelted with stones.

The attackers then stormed the residence and court of Nurul Haque, widely known as Nural Pagal, setting fire to the premises. In a shocking escalation, they exhumed his body and burned it at the Padma intersection on the Dhaka–Khulna highway.

Md Rakibul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Goalanda Ghat Police, confirmed this, adding that suspects will be identified and arrested after reviewing video footage and other evidence.
