36 Bangladeshis die during Hajj, 25 hospitalised

A total of 36 Bangladeshi pilgrims, including 27 men and 9 women, have died in Saudi Arabia while performing Hajj this year, according to data from the Hajj Management Portal of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The latest death was reported from Gazipur's Gachar Md. Afzal Hossain, 68, who died on June 19.

Of the dead, 23 died in Mecca, 11 in Medina, one in Arafat and one in Jeddah.

A total of 270 pilgrims have received treatment in various government hospitals in Saudi Arabia so far. Of these, 25 are currently admitted.

Incidentally, this year's holy Hajj was held on June 5. A total of 87,100 people from Bangladesh participated in the Hajj. Of these, 5,200 went under government management and the remaining 81,900 went under private management.
