37,000 tons of rice from India, Myanmar arrive in Bangladesh
A total of 37,000 metric tons of rice, imported by the Directorate of Food from India and Myanmar, has reached Bangladesh.
Imdad Islam, Senior Information Officer and Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Food, confirmed the matter on Wednesday (January 29).
He said, "On a government-to-government (G2G) basis, 22,000 metric tons of Atap rice from Myanmar have arrived at Chattogram port on the MV ATN Victory ship."
In addition, the MV BMC Pandora, carrying 15,000 metric tons of boiled rice imported from India through an open tender process, has arrived at Chattogram port.
Imdad Islam also said that the Directorate of Food has imported rice from both India and Myanmar, and the unloading of the rice from the ships will commence shortly. All necessary arrangements for the process have been made.
