38 locally-made weapons recovered from Shyamnagar pond

Police have once again recovered 38 locally-made weapons packed in sacks from a pond in Shyamnagar, Satkhira. The recovered weapons include 4 machetes and 34 sickles.

The raid was conducted in Nakipur village of Shyamnagar Municipality on Tuesday (April 22).

Based on information provided by the District Special Branch (DSB), Shyamnagar Police Station recovered the weapons from a pond owned by Billal Gazi.

Shyamnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Humayun Kabir Mollah informed that the raid was conducted based on a secret tip-off and the indigenous weapons hidden in the sacks were recovered. The length of the recovered ramdas is about two and a half feet and the length of the hasuas attached to wooden butts is about two feet.

He also said that it is not yet known who or what kept these weapons there. The police are investigating the matter to unravel it.

The incident has created new concerns among the locals. Law enforcement officials say that such operations will continue in the future.

Earlier, last Sunday, the police recovered 34 bags full of domestic weapons (Hasua) from the abandoned pond of Maulana Zubair Hossain in Nakipur village of Shyamnagar Municipality.
