39 ‘teen gang members’ arrested with weapons in capital
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested 39 members of several teen gang groups active in capital's Mohammadpur, Adabar, and Hazaribagh areas. They were arrested along with a large quantity of indigenous weapons in these areas on Friday.
Battalion Commander Additional DIG Anwar Hossain informed the matter to the reporters at Rab-2's head office in Basila on Saturday (February 17) afternoon.
Among those arrestees - five are from the 'Patali' group, six are from the 'Level High' group, six are from the 'Chand' group, five are from the 'Low Thela' group, seven are from the 'Maura Imran' group, and the remaining seven are members of other groups.
DIG Anwar Hossain said, "Each group has about 20 to 25 members. The Patali Group has been headed by Sujan Mia alias Forma Sajib for a long time."
"In the past one year, more than six hundred people have been arrested for their involvement in various crimes including extortion and extortion. Most of whom are members of some gang group. The members of these gang groups have been dominating the area and making their presence by releasing videos through social media including TikTok. Through this, they have been doing extortion, drug trade, and robbery," he added.
