394 new dengue cases reported in 24 hrs, 3 dead this week
Dengue infections are steadily increasing. In the 24 hours since Monday morning (June 23), no new deaths were recorded, but 394 people were hospitalized with the illness. So far this week, three people have died from the mosquito-borne disease.
The Health and Emergency Operations Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) shared this information in a press release on Tuesday (June 24).
Barishal Division reported the highest number of cases in the past 24 hours, with 157 new infections.
According to the DGHS, 394 people were hospitalized with dengue across the country in the last 24 hours. Of them, 92 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka and 302 outside Dhaka.
So far this year, 34 people have died from dengue—50 percent of them male and 50 percent female. Between January 1 and June 24, a total of 8,544 people have been infected. Of these, 55.6% are male and 44.4% are female.
