3-day nationwide holiday announced ahead of national election

Government has declared a three-day holiday across Bangladesh ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament election and referendum.

According to a notification issued on Sunday (January 25) by the Ministry of Public Administration, February 11 and 12 will be public holidays for all government, semi-government, autonomous, and private offices, as well as educational institutions, to facilitate voter participation. Additionally, a special holiday on February 10 has been declared for workers and employees in industrial zones.

Voting for the election and referendum is scheduled for Thursday, February 12, from 7:30am to 4:30
pm, said in the notification.

As the day falls before the weekly weekend, industrial areas will observe five consecutive days of holiday, while other sectors will have four days off, it added.
