4 AQSA members arrested in Dhaka, had secret attack plan
The Detective Police have arrested four active members of the banned extremist organization 'Aqsa' in separate raids in the capital's Kamrangirchar and Keraniganj areas. Firearms, bullets, unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) and drone operating equipment were recovered from them in the raids.
Police said they were planning secret attacks in different parts of the capital.
The arrested persons are - Md. Imran Chowdhury, 29, Md. Mostakim Chowdhury, 25, Ripon Hossain Sheikh, 28 and Abu Bakkar, 25.
A team of the Detective Police's Ramna division arrested them in a series of raids from early morning to noon on Tuesday.
First, Imran Chowdhury was arrested from a house in the Koylaghat area adjacent to Tara Mosque of Kamrangirchar Police Station. Later, Mostakim Chowdhury was arrested from the Zianagar area of Keraniganj. Ripon Hossain Sheikh and Abu Bakkar were arrested in a raid conducted in the area adjacent to Rasulpur Shikson Bridge in Kamrangirchar on the same day.
During the raid, a foreign pistol, a single-barrel gun, 14 rounds of bullets, three bullet shells, multiple mobile phones, metal detectors, unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) and various equipment for operating drones, along with books and leaflets related to extremist propaganda were recovered from them.
According to police sources, it is initially believed that the arrested are active members of the banned organization 'Aqsa'. Information has been received that they were involved in planning sabotage and secret attacks in various important areas of the capital. For this purpose, they were organizing using weapons and modern technology.
Police said that legal action is under process against the arrested.
