4 arrested over killing of customs officer in Cumilla
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested four suspects in connection with the murder of Customs Officer Bullet Bairagi in Cumilla. Multiple teams of RAB and police are working to arrest others involved in the killing, said Major Sadman Ibne Alam, company commander of RAB-11, CPC-2.
He said the arrests were made in various areas of Cumilla with the help of information technology from Saturday night to 7:30 pm on Sunday. Two of those arrested were caught while attempting to flee to India.
RAB officials said details about the arrests will be disclosed at a press conference at 10:00 am on Monday, April 27.
Earlier on Saturday morning, the bloodied body of Bairagi, an assistant revenue officer at the Bebarbazar land port under Cumilla Customs, was recovered from the roadside near Irish Hotel in the Kotbari area of Cumilla's Sadar South upazila on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway.
The victim's mother, Nilima Bairagi, filed a murder case against unidentified persons at Cumilla Sadar South Model Police Station on Saturday night.
