4 killed in bus-private car accident in Munshiganj
Four persons have been killed in a collision between a passenger bus and a private car in Gazaria of Munshiganj. Another person has been seriously injured in the incident. The accident occurred in the Jamaldi bus stand area of the Dhaka-Chattogram highway at noon on Saturday (September 19).
Deputy assistant director of Munshiganj Fire Service and Civil Defence Muhammad Sofiqul Islam has confirmed the accident.
Fire Service sources said two rescue units of Gazaria fire station went to the spot after receiving information about the collision between a bus and a private car in the Jamaldi bus stand area around 2:38pm. Later they started the rescue work.
The driver of the private car died on the spot in the accident. After the injured were rescued and taken to hospital the duty doctors declared three more persons dead. The other seriously injured person has been sent to Dhaka for better treatment.
The deceased are Mojibur Rahman, 55, Mst Shamima Akter, 45, Sabiha Chowdhury, 43, and private car driver Sohel. Driver Sohel is a resident of Gendaria area of Dhaka, it has been learnt.
Deputy assistant director of Fire Service Muhammad Sofiqul Islam said the passenger bus named New Baleshwar was going towards Chattogram. On the other hand the private car was returning towards Dhaka after having food at Miami Restaurant. The two vehicles collided on the way in the Jamaldi bus stand area. There were a total of five persons including the driver in the private car.
He further said two units of Fire Service conducted the rescue operation after the accident. The cause of the accident is being investigated.
