4 killed in train accident in Lalmonirhat

At least four people were killed when a train called 'Karatoa Express' was derailed at Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat.

The incident took place in Alauddin Nagar station area of the upazila on Monday evening, said Patgram Railway Station Master Nur Alam.

The deceased have been identified as Azizar Rahman (65), Mubarak Hossain (55), and Maqbul Hossain (45) of Islam Nagar village of Zongra union of the upazila and Abdul Wahab (42) of Mominpur village of the same union.

Locals said that in the evening, some youths were taking paddy threshing machines along the railway line in Alauddin Nagar station area. At that time the Karatoa Express train was also going. In such a situation, they could not hear the sound of the train due to the sound of the rice threshing machine. Four youths were hit by the train and killed on the spot.
