4 killed including 3 of a family in Khulna
A grandmother and her two grandchildren were murdered by assailants inside a house on a lane near Mukta Commissioner’s residence in ward 31 of Khulna city.
The deceased are Mahidunnesa, 55, wife of Abdul Hannan, and her grandchildren Mustakim, 8, and Fatiha, 6. Their bodies were found inside a poultry shed beside their living room.
Their mother is Shahitun Nesa and father is Shifar Ahmed. Both parents are employed, so the children were under the grandmother’s care.
Lobonchora police station OC Sanowar Husain Masum said the bodies of three people — the grandmother and two children — were recovered from the Lobonchora area at night. The children’s parents left for work in the morning after leaving them with their grandmother. When they returned in the evening and received no response at the door, they broke it with the help of neighbours and found the grandmother’s body. Police were informed, and later the bodies of the two children were found in the poultry shed and sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
The OC added that the three bodies bore injury marks and had already stiffened. The perpetrators are still unknown. Further details will be known after investigation. After the inquest, the bodies will be sent for post-mortem.
Police prepared a primary inquest report at the scene and recovered three bullet casings. The motive, method and possible suspects remain unknown.
Local residents are in shock and fear. They have demanded immediate arrest and punishment of those involved in the brutal killing of the three, including the children.
Locals said they may have been killed sometime between Sunday noon and evening. After failing to find them for several hours, neighbours discovered the bodies near the poultry shed and informed the police.
Earlier, a man named Alaudddin Mridha, 35, was murdered by assailants over previous enmity. The incident occurred at around 7pm on Sunday November 16 near Syed Ali Hossain School in Karimganar under Sonadanga police station. The victim was the son of Mana Munshi.
Sonadanga Model police station SI Suman Hawlader said Alaudddin lived as a tenant in the house of Elora Begum in Karimganar. In the evening, he was sitting on the stairs of the veranda talking to his wife when 6–7 assailants entered the house and spoke with him. Suddenly they fired at him, with two bullets hitting his chest and abdomen. They then slit his throat with a sharp knife, killing him on the spot.
