4 more children die with measles symptoms in 24 hours, 917 infected

The toll of deaths from measles and its symptoms continues unabated across the country. In the last 24 hours, four more children have died, bringing the total number of deaths since March 15 to nearly 1,000.

The Directorate General of Health Services said in a notification on Saturday that 917 people were infected with measles and its symptoms in the last 24 hours, with four deaths recorded during the same period.

According to the DGHS, the total number of deaths from measles and measles-like symptoms in the country this year has risen to 991. Among them, 100 have died from confirmed measles, while 891 have died with measles symptoms.

Additionally, 843 suspected measles cases were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of suspected infections to 163,105.

According to the DGHS, a total of 143,214 patients with measles symptoms have been hospitalised across the country since March 15 this year. Of them, 137,921 have recovered and returned home.
