4 more children die with measles symptoms in Bangladesh, over 1,000 new cases recorded

Four more children have died with measles symptoms in Bangladesh over the past 24 hours. During the same period, 1,008 children were newly infected with measles and measles symptoms.

This information was released in the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) updated measles situation report on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the report, while four children died with measles symptoms in the latest 24-hour period, no deaths were confirmed to have been caused by laboratory-confirmed measles.

Consequently, the total number of children who have died with measles symptoms since March 15 has risen to 702. During the same timeframe, another 95 children died from confirmed measles. In total, 797 children have died from measles and measles symptoms during this period.

Meanwhile, 130 children were diagnosed with confirmed measles in the past day. In addition, 878 children received treatment for measles symptoms, bringing the total number of new patients, combining both confirmed and suspected cases, to 1,008.

According to hospital management data, 1,218 children were newly admitted to hospitals in the last 24 hours, while 879 children left the hospital following treatment during the same period.

DGHS data shows that from March 15 of this year until 8:00 AM on Tuesday, the total number of suspected measles patients in the country reached 119,448. Among them, 14,708 cases have been laboratory-confirmed as measles.

During this period, a total of 102,244 patients were admitted to hospitals, of whom 98,411 have already returned home following treatment.
