4 more die of dengue; 814 hospitalised in 24 hrs

Dengue claimed four more lives across the country in the past 24 hours, while 814 new patients were admitted to hospitals, according to a Health Directorate report issued on Tuesday (October 21).

Of the new cases, 277 were reported in Dhaka city, 124 in other parts of Dhaka division, 126 in Barishal, 114 in Chattogram, 46 in Mymensingh, 41 each in Khulna and Rangpur, 40 in Rajshahi, and 5 in Sylhet.

Among the fatalities, three occurred in Dhaka South City and one in Barishal, bringing this year’s death toll to 253. So far, 61,605 people have been infected with dengue in 2025.

In comparison, 575 people died and 101,214 were infected nationwide throughout 2024, the directorate added.
