4 youths die after falling into septic tank in Sreemangal

Four young men lost their lives after falling into a septic tank at the Harinchara tea garden in Sreemangal Upazila, Moulvibazar district. One other person was seriously injured and has been admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for treatment.

The incident reportedly occurred around 1:30 AM on Wednesday night, according to Aminul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Sreemangal Police Station. “We received reports that four youths had fallen into the septic tank and died,” he said.

The deceased have been identified as Rana Nayak (17), Shraban Nayek (19), Krishna Robidas (20), and Nipen Phulmali (27). All were children of tea garden laborers at Harinchara.

Another individual, Robi Banerjee (20), was rescued and initially treated at a local hospital before being referred to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for advanced care.

Medical authorities suspect that the cause of death was gas poisoning from the septic tank. Family members confirmed that the victims had entered the tank before the tragic incident. Further details will be released following post-mortem examinations.
