40 including women, children injured by dog bite in Kishoreganj
At least 40 people, including women and children, were injured in a mad dog bite in Bhairab, Kishoreganj. Two of them, who were seriously injured, have been sent to a specialized hospital in Mohakhali, Dhaka.
The injured are Shahera Khatun (80), Sahara Begum (50), Fatema Begum (42), Achma Akhter (48), Achma Begum (35), Rafia Akhter (27), Muntaha Akhter (27), Adil Mia (30), Narayan Chandra Das (45), Bachchu Mia (40), Marufa Khatun (17), Marzia Khatun (11), Abdur Rahman (6), Sharia Islam (7), Mousumi Akhter (9), Yasin Mia (12), Tanjil Mia (10), Ishan Mia (14), Sweety Akhter (16), Jannat Akhter (5), Hossain Mia (8), Rayyan Mia (10) and Ratul Mia (16). The names of the rest are not known. The injured due to dog bites have been treated at various health centers including Bhairab Upazila Health Complex.
Locals said that from Monday afternoon to night, people in Gochamara, Madhchar, Rasulpur of Shimulkandi Union of the upazila, as well as Chandiber, Darichandiber, Amlapara and Bhairabpur of the municipality, were bitten by mad dogs.
Aklima Akhter of Gochamara village of Shimulkandi Union said that her son Aryan was returning home from playing in the field on Monday. At that time, the dog bit him. Hearing screams, she rescued her son and took him to the Upazila Health Complex. Rahima Khatun of Amlapara of the municipality said that her son Hossain was bitten by a dog as soon as he left his house and went out on the road. Hearing cries, she took his son to the Upazila Health Complex in a bloody state. Since then, dog fear has prevailed in various areas.
Upazila Health Complex doctor Dr. Umme Habiba Jui informed that 28 people have received treatment at the Upazila Health Complex. Two have been sent to Mohakhali Hospital.
