40 injured in rabid dog attack in Faridganj
A surge in rabid dog attacks in Faridganj has injured at least 40 people over the past few days, causing widespread panic ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Adha festival.
On Friday, May 30 alone, 20 people were bitten by rabid dogs in Paikpara South Union and Faridganj Municipality. Twenty-three of the injured have received treatment at the Faridganj Upazila Health Complex, while others sought care at private hospitals across the district.“অনুবাদ করে দাও”
Local residents in Gazipur, Khurumkhali, and Bottola areas reported growing anxiety as news of dog bites spread. Many rushed to healthcare facilities to get treatment for themselves or family members.
Dr. Mujammel Hossain, a resident physician at the Upazila Health Complex, confirmed a sudden increase in patients bitten by dogs from various villages. "We treated at least 23 patients on Friday alone," he said.
Shah Sufian Khan, Executive Officer of Faridganj Municipality, assured that vaccines have been distributed to those who requested them within the municipal area.
Despite the alarming situation, as of Sunday noon, no active measures have been taken by local authorities to control or remove the stray dogs, leaving residents worried about further attacks.
