4,000 tonnes of diesel arrive from India through friendship pipeline
Another 4,000 metric tonnes of diesel has reached the Parbatipur Railhead Depot in Dinajpur through the Bangladesh-India Friendship Pipeline from India’s Numaligarh Refinery Limited, officials confirmed on Friday night (May 22).
Depot In-Charge Ahsan Habib Chowdhury said the latest shipment arrived as part of the ongoing fuel import agreement between the two countries aimed at strengthening Bangladesh’s energy security.
Earlier, under the same arrangement, pumping operations from Numaligarh began on April 7, with the fuel reception process at the Parbatipur Oil Depot completed on April 10 midnight, bringing in 8,000 tonnes of diesel. Another 5,000 tonnes arrived on April 17.
Officials said a total of 44,000 tonnes of diesel was imported through the pipeline in three separate consignments during April.
The first shipment for May, carrying 4,000 tonnes of diesel, began pumping operations on May 21.
Authorities also said pumping of another 4,000-tonne consignment is scheduled to begin on May 26, which will subsequently reach the Parbatipur Railhead Depot.
