41 tractors with illegal sand and stones seized in Sylhet, 6 detained

A huge amount of illegal sand and stones along with 41 Mahindra tractors have been seized in a drive in Shah Arefin Tila area of ​​Companiganj upazila on the border of Sylhet. Six people were detained during the drive.

The Sylhet Battalion of the BGB (48 BGB) gave this information in a press release on Friday (March 20) afternoon.

The release said that on Thursday at around 12:15 am, the BGB received information about illegal stone extraction in the border area under the responsibility of Noakote BOP. Later, a drive was launched in coordination with Kalairag, Noakote and Labia BOPs under the leadership of Kalasadek BOP.

In the first phase of the drive, 34 Mahindra tractors, about 7,000 cubic feet of stones and 230 cubic feet of sand were seized.

Later, more tractors were seized in a joint operation led by BGB, police and Ansar under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Companiganj Palash Talukder. In total, 41 tractors were seized and six people were arrested.

It has been reported that the process of handing over the arrested persons along with the tractors to Companiganj Police Station is underway.
