42 HSC candidates granted bail

A Dhaka court has granted bail to 42 HSC examinees arrested in cases filed with different police stations of the capital in connection with the violence centered on the quota reform movement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Rashidul Alam passed the order on Friday (August 2) afternoon, said lawyer for the students Md Shaidul Islam.

Earlier in the morning, a press release from the Law Ministry informed that the bail hearing of 42 HSC examinees will be held at the Dhaka CMM Court around 3:30 pm.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs said on Thursday (August 1) night that if there are any HSC exam candidates among those detained in recent violent incidents, the government will provide legal assistance to release them on bail if they apply for bail along with the exam admit card and relevant documents.
