452 arrested, 32 cases filed in DMP drive

A total of 452 people have been arrested in the last 24 hours in the regular anti-crime operations of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in the capital. At that time, 32 cases were filed over various crimes.

The information was conveyed by the DMP on Sunday, October 11.

Deputy Commissioner of DMP's Media and Public Relations Division, Md Aktar Hossain, said that among the arrested, 25 were in Ramna division, 53 in Lalbagh, 66 in Wari, 55 in Motijheel, 60 in Tejgaon, 114 in Mirpur, 35 in Gulshan and 33 in Uttara division. Additionally, 11 more were arrested in operations by the Detective Branch.

A large quantity of narcotics and various evidence were recovered during the operations. These include 5,931 Yaba tablets, 144 bottles of local liquor and 90 grams of cannabis. Alongside this, an unexploded cocktail, an unexploded part of a cocktail, a cleaver, two lighters and two pairs of scissors were recovered.

Police also seized a covered van, a motorcycle, a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw, six mobile phones and a travel bag in the operations. The DMP said a victim was also rescued during this time.

According to DMP sources, these operations are being conducted in various police station areas of the capital to curb crime and keep the law and order situation under control. The narcotics and other evidence recovered in the operations will be used in the investigation of the relevant cases.

The process of taking legal action against the arrested people based on the relevant allegations is underway. Police said such operations will continue to control crime and ensure the city's security.
