482 arrested in DMP drive in 24 hours

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 482 people in regular drives across the capital in the last 24 hours. During this period, 48 cases were filed at various police stations in the capital, according to DMP's Media Division.

Among those arrested, Mirpur Division recorded the highest number with 114 arrests. Other divisions include: Motijheel 87, Tejgaon 67, Wari 64, Uttara 50, Ramna 34, Gulshan 33, Lalbagh 24, Detective Branch 8 and Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit 1.

During the drives, police seized Tk 2,90,000 in cash from drug sales, four music systems worth approximately Tk 2,30,000, five mobile phones, 157 SIM cards, one CNG auto-rickshaw, three motorcycles and various types of local and foreign weapons from those arrested. The recovered weapons include one pistol, one magazine, one revolver, six rounds of bullets, 12 knives, one baseball bat, one dha (traditional curved sword), one dagger and one cutter.

Additionally, the drives recovered 7,699 yaba pills, 65 kg 500 g of cannabis, nine injections and 22 litres 500 ml of foreign liquor.

DMP said these drugs, weapons and other items were recovered during regular drives in various police station areas of the capital. Legal action against those arrested is underway.
