484 arrested in Dhaka in regular police drive

A total of 484 individuals were arrested in regular operations by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in various areas of the capital over the past 24 hours. Various items, including drugs and cocktail-like objects, were recovered during the drives. Fifty-eight cases have been filed in connection with these incidents, according to DMP.

DMP's Media and Public Relations Division confirmed this in a press release on Tuesday, August 11. According to the release, the highest number of arrests — 124 — were made from the Mirpur Division. Other arrests included 43 from Ramna Division, 33 from Lalbagh, 71 from Wari, 56 from Motijheel, 50 from Tejgaon, 55 from Gulshan and 48 from Uttara Division.

During the operations, DMP's Detective Branch arrested three individuals and the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC) arrested one. During the drives, police recovered one motorcycle, five mobile phones, two gas lights, six foil papers and Tk 2,500 in cash.

Additionally, police recovered five cocktail-like objects, 6 kg 200 grams of cannabis, 6,956 yaba pills and 30 bottles of Eskaf syrup. DMP said the arrests were made with drugs and other items during operations conducted in various police station areas of the capital.

DMP Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Niaz Mehedi said these arrests are part of regular operations in various police station areas of the capital. The process of taking legal action against those arrested in connection with the relevant incidents is underway.
