The 48th Special BCS Written Examination is being held today (Friday) across various centers in Dhaka, aiming to recruit 3,000 doctors to strengthen the country's healthcare system.

The exam, conducted by the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC), is scheduled from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. According to PSC directives, candidates must report to their designated exam centers between 8:00 AM and 9:30 AM. Entry will not be permitted after the specified time.

This special BCS is a key government initiative to address the ongoing shortage of medical professionals nationwide. A total of 3,000 doctors will be recruited—2,700 assistant surgeons and 300 assistant dental surgeons.

The written test carries a total of 200 marks and follows the MCQ format. It is divided into two parts: 100 marks on Medical Science and 100 marks on General Subjects. The General Subjects section covers Bengali, English, Bangladesh and International Affairs, Mental Ability, and Mathematical Reasoning.

Candidates are only allowed to bring their admit card and a black ink ballpoint pen. Carrying any prohibited items will result in legal action, PSC has warned.

Those who pass the written test will move on to the next phase—an oral examination carrying 100 marks.
