49 NBR officials transferred in major reshuffle

Govt has transferred 49 National Board of Revenue (NBR) officials in a major administrative move.

The list includes 25 additional commissioners and 24 joint commissioners.

The transfer orders were issued on Thursday (July 31), through two separate notifications signed by Mohammad Abul Mansur, Second Secretary of the Customs and VAT Administration-1 Branch.

Several of the transferred officials were reportedly involved in the NBR Reform Unity Council and linked to a movement demanding the abolition of the NBR and the removal of its chairman.

This comes after 27 NBR officials were previously dismissed for their alleged involvement in the movement. Sixteen others are under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), and some have been sent on compulsory retirement.

The transferred additional commissioners include Mirza Shahiduzzaman, Pramila Sarkar, Shamima Akhter, Md Khairul Kabir Mia, Dr Mohammad Tajul Islam, and others.

The joint commissioners include Mohammad Salauddin Ripon, Shahinur Kabir Pavel, Sarmin Akhter Majumder, Hasnain Mahmud, Jahangir Alam, and others.
