Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have arrested five individuals in connection with a high-profile robbery in Uttara, where the suspects impersonated members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and stole over one crore taka. The police have recovered both the stolen cash and the vehicle used in the crime.

Md. Muhidul Islam, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the Uttara division, confirmed that the suspects were apprehended after thorough analysis of CCTV footage and vehicle registration details linked to the incident. However, he withheld the identities of the arrested pending further investigation.

A detailed briefing on the case will be held at the DMP Media Center today, Thursday, June 19.

The robbery took place on Saturday, June 14, around 8:50 AM. Four men were transporting approximately Tk 1.22 crore in two bags from the residence of Abdul Khalek Noyon, Managing Director of a local distribution office at House No. 37, Road No. 12, Sector 13, Uttara. Their destination was the cash distribution office at House No. 49, Road No. 13, Sector 13, Uttara.

Upon reaching near House No. 37 on Road No. 13, two black Hiace vans, already positioned nearby, blocked the motorcycles. Subsequently, a group of 8 to 10 armed men, disguised in black RAB caps and claiming to be RAB officers, forcibly took the bags from the four men at gunpoint.
