5 bags of NID cards recovered from garbage dump in Narayanganj

Police recovered five bags filled with National Identity (NID) cards, polling officer cards, and election seals from a garbage dump near Fatullah Stadium in Narayanganj on Sunday night (September 21).

Eyewitnesses said a white car dropped the bags in the area. Locals, suspecting foul play, later discovered thousands of NID cards and related election materials inside the bags.

Locals later recorded videos on their mobile phones and uploaded them to Facebook, which soon circulated widely on social media.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Operations) Tarique Al Mehedi said the recovered items have been placed in the custody of the Narayanganj District Election Commission Office.

Initial findings suggest the materials came from Gazipur Sadar. An investigation is underway to identify those responsible.
