The detainees were apprehended about 700 yards inside Bangladeshi territory from the main border pillar 430/2-S by BGB personnel from the Pediaganj Border Outpost (BOP). Reports indicate that members of India’s 132/Purohitganj BSF camp pushed the group in from the Chandapara area.

Among those detained, three are Bangladeshi nationals: Korban Gazi, 33, from Boro Colony village in Sharsha upazila of Jashore; Torikul Sheikh, 42, from Shyamnagar village in Dakhidia under Abhoynagar upazila; and Bandona Rani Bishwas, 37, from Birgram village in Gobra Bazar, Narail Sadar. The two Indian nationals are Nazma, 27, daughter of Yasin Sarkar from Kandewali village under Buriguli police station in Palghar district, and Farzana, 23, daughter of Marfat Ali Gazi from Palghat Bhasai village under Dhaniu police station in the same district.

BGB officials said that arrangements are being made to transfer the detainees to Tetulia Model Police Station for further legal action.
