5 directives issued to prevent fire
In light of the recent fire at the Secretariat, the ministry has sent letters to various offices and organizations, outlining these directives.
According to the letter, incidents of sudden fires have increased across the country, including in Bangladesh’s administrative center, the Secretariat. Consequently, it has become urgent to strengthen security measures in offices and organizations. The letter emphasized taking necessary actions to implement the five directives.
The directives are as follows:
Enhance patrols by on-duty security personnel. Any suspicious activity must be immediately reported to those responsible for security.
Office heads must ensure that all electrical connections in the office are turned off and safety measures are in place before leaving the office.
Night guards must conduct continuous patrols inside and around the building.
Relevant officials and employees must take measures to ensure the safety of all offices.
If an accident occurs due to the negligence of any official or employee, it will be considered a personal responsibility.
A fire broke out on the night of December 25, 2024, in Building No 7 of the Secretariat, burning four floors of the building.
The committee investigating the incident stated in its preliminary report that the fire originated from a loose electrical connection.
