At a time when Bangladesh is struggling with the fuel crisis and price hikes amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, 169,000 tonnes of refined diesel and octane have arrived at the Chattogram port.

Of the five tankers at the port, unloading of fuel oil has already started from two. The remaining three ships also arrived in the port's waters on Monday (April 20).

Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) Assistant Manager (Public Relations) Farzin Hasan Moumita confirmed this.

According to port sources, diesel is currently being unloaded from two ships named 'MT Oaktree' and 'MT Cape Bonny' at the port's Dolphin Jetty. These two ships from Malaysia contain 35,000 and 33,000 tonnes of diesel respectively.

In addition, among the latest arriving ships, 'MT Lian Song Hu' carrying 41,000 tons of diesel, 'MT Pacific Indigo' carrying 33,000 tons of diesel, and 'MT Nav Cielo' carrying 27,000 tons of octane have reached the outer anchorage of Chattogram Port.

BPC said that the process of unloading fuel oil from the remaining three ships will also begin soon.
