5 in capital market: Robi highlights growth and corporate governance
Marking the fifth anniversary of its stock market listing through Bangladesh's largest-ever Initial Public Offering (IPO), Robi Axiata PLC has outlined its achievements and future plans, emphasizing sustained growth driven by strong corporate governance.
Speaking at an event on Tuesday, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Ziad Satara said that despite a challenging business environment, Robi has maintained consistent growth by adhering to strong corporate governance principles.
According to company data, since its stock market debut in 2020, Robi has added:
7.67 million new mobile subscribers
11 million new internet users
25.5 million new 4G subscribers
The company also claimed that it recorded the highest number of new active subscribers in Bangladesh's telecommunications market between the end of 2020 and June 2026.
Strong financial performance
Robi reported continuous financial growth, stating that both revenue and profit after tax increased every year from 2021 to 2025.
During the first half of 2026, the company's profit after tax rose by 29% compared with the same period a year earlier.
Since 2021, Robi has earned more than BDT 28.19 billion in profit after tax and distributed approximately BDT 28.55 billion in dividends to shareholders.
Expanding customer base
As of the second quarter of 2026, Robi's active subscriber base stood at 58.6 million.
According to the company:
About 79% of subscribers use mobile internet.
Around 72% are 4G users.
Robi claims both figures are the highest in Bangladesh's telecom industry.
The company also reported that the average monthly data consumption per data user has exceeded 10 GB.
Network expansion
Robi said it has continued to invest heavily in network infrastructure.
Between 2021 and the first half of 2026, the company invested more than BDT 93.31 billion in network expansion, excluding spectrum acquisition costs.
During that period:
The number of 4G sites increased from 13,173 at the end of 2020 to 19,646 by the second quarter of 2026.
Total spectrum capacity expanded 3.4 times, reaching 124 MHz.
Digital services and AI
The company also highlighted progress in its digital platforms and technology-driven initiatives.
According to Robi:
BDApps now hosts 145,000 developers, who have published 125,000 applications and collectively earned BDT 2.8 billion through the platform.
BDTickets serves more than 80,000 passengers daily.
Axentec and RedDot Digital continue to expand enterprise technology services.
CEO Ziad Satara said artificial intelligence (AI) has become one of the company's key growth drivers. AI is being used for network planning, personalized customer services, and improving customer support efficiency.
He emphasized that while AI will play a central role in Robi's future, the company's long-term success will continue to depend on strong corporate governance, data security, and high ethical standards.
