5 killed in motorcycle-bus collision in Gopalganj

At least 5 people were killed and more than 20 injured in a passenger bus collision on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Gopalganj.

The accident occurred when a passenger bus named Dola Paribahan hit a motorcycle in the Betagram area of ​​the district on Thursday afternoon (May 28).

According to eyewitnesses and local sources, several people died on the spot after the collision and the injured were rushed to a local hospital. The identities of the deceased were not immediately known. Superintendent of Police Md. Habibullah and Gopalganj Fire Service Inspector Niyamul Huda confirmed the matter to the media.

According to eyewitnesses and police sources, a passenger bus collided with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction in the Bedgram area. Five people died after being taken to the hospital. Local administration and fire service personnel quickly reached the spot, rescued the injured and sent them to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital.

Doctors said that the condition of several of the injured is very critical, which is why it is feared that the death toll may increase.

After the accident, traffic on the road was disrupted for some time. Later, the situation was brought under control when the police removed the two vehicles involved in the accident.

The officer-in-charge (OC) of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station confirmed the incident and said that efforts are underway to identify the deceased. The two vehicles involved in the accident have been recovered and traffic on the road is currently normal.
