5 killed in road accident in Saudi Arabia

A total of five people, including four members of the same family, from Ramganj upazila of Laxmipur, were killed in a road accident in Saudi Arabia. The accident took place in Abha city, Saudi Arabia.

The deceased were Mizanur Rahman, 42, a resident of Panchrukhi village in Bhatra union of Ramganj upazila, his wife Meher Afroz Sumi, 30, their two daughters Mohana, 13, and one-and-a-half-year-old child Subah. Family members said that they died on the spot of the accident. Another daughter of theirs, Faiza Akhtar, 11, is undergoing treatment at the hospital with serious injuries in the same incident.

In addition, the driver, Hossain Mohammad Jilani (Babar), 30, of Bishnapur Patwari house in Bholakot union of Ramganj upazila, was killed in the accident.

The accident took place at around 3am Saudi time last Sunday. It was 11pm Bangladesh time. It is learnt that the vehicle carrying them met with an accident in the Abha area while they were returning home after performing Umrah.

The deceased Mizanur Rahman had been involved in the hotel business in Abha, Saudi Arabia for a long time. He went to Saudi Arabia with his wife and three daughters on February 3 of this month to perform Hajj.

Ramganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Firoz Uddin Chowdhury said that they are aware of the incident. If a decision is made to bring the body back to the country, the administration will provide necessary assistance.
