5 more children die with measles symptoms

The measles situation in the country continues to deteriorate. 5 more children have died with measles symptoms in the previous 24 hours till 8am on Thursday. At the same time, 1,119 children have been infected with measles and measles symptoms.

This information was presented in the updated report on measles by the Directorate General of Health Services on Thursday afternoon (July 2).

The report said that all the 5 children who died in the last 24 hours died with measles symptoms; no child who was definitely infected with measles died during this period.

With this, a total of 631 children have lost their lives with measles symptoms across the country since March 15. In addition, 93 more children have died with measles symptoms. In total, 724 children have died of measles and measles symptoms so far.

An analysis of the figures for the last 24 hours shows that 154 children have been confirmed to be infected with measles during this period, and the number of patients with measles symptoms is 965. 902 children have been newly admitted to the hospital, while 877 have been discharged.

According to the Department of Health, the total number of suspected measles patients has reached 12,993 since March 15, while 12,286 confirmed measles patients have been identified. Of these, a total of 86,411 patients have been admitted to the hospital, of whom 82,759 have already recovered and returned home.
