5 more children die with measles-like symptoms
Five more children have died with measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours until 8am. During this period, 1,077 children were infected with measles and measles-like symptoms.
The information was provided in an update on measles from the Directorate General of Health Services on Tuesday, August 25.
The notification said five more children died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours. However, no child died from confirmed measles infection.
With this, a total of 844 children have died with measles-like symptoms across the country since March 15.
Additionally, 99 more children have died from confirmed measles. That means a total of 943 children have died from measles and measles-like symptoms during this period.
Furthermore, 91 children were infected with measles in the past 24 hours, while the number of patients with measles-like symptoms stood at 986. During this time, 890 children were newly hospitalised, and 890 children were discharged from hospitals.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, the total number of suspected measles cases from March 15 to date is 151,638, while the number of confirmed measles cases is 18,578. Among them, a total of 132,554 patients have been hospitalised, of whom 127,811 have been discharged and returned home.
