5 more die of dengue; 668 hospitalised in 24 hrs

Bangladesh recorded five new dengue-related deaths in the past 24 hours, raising this year’s toll to 187, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Among them, twenty of those deaths occurred this week alone.

The DGHS bulletin issued Wednesday (September 24) said 668 new patients were admitted to hospitals nationwide during the reporting period, while 771 recovered and were released. To date, 41,638 patients have left hospitals after treatment this year.

Of the new admissions, Barishal saw 158 cases, Chattogram 106, Dhaka (outside city corporations) 126, Dhaka North 94, Dhaka South 73, Khulna 41, Mymensingh 30, Rajshahi 35, and Rangpur five.
