Five members of a family received burns after miscreants set a house on fire in Dhaka’s Keraniganj early Tuesday. Aminul Islam, additional superintendent of police, said miscreants set the house of one Julhas on fire by pouring petrol at 4am, locking the door from the outside. Julhas along with his two children and two other family members suffered burn injuries in the fire. Hearing their screams for help, neighbours rescued them with burn injuries. On information, a firefighting unit rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire. The injured were taken to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. "Police are trying to arrest the arsonists", said Aminul Islam.

ঢাকার দোহার উপজেলার মুকসুদপুর ইউনিয়নের ধীতপুর এলাকায় একটি বাড়িতে আজ মঙ্গলবার ভোর ৪টার দিকে আগুন দিয়েছে দুর্বৃত্তরা। এতে একই পরিবারের ৫ জন দগ্ধ হয়েছেন। স্থানীয় সূত্রে জানা গেছে, আজ ভোরে জুলহাস নামের এক ব্যক্তির আধাপাকা বসতবাড়িতে বাইরে থেকে তালা দিয়ে পেট্রোল ছুঁড়ে আগুন লাগিয়ে দেয় দুর্বৃত্তরা। আগুনে জুলহাস, ২ শিশু ও নারীসহ একই পরিবারের ৫ জন দগ্ধ হন। আর্তচিৎকার শুনে এসময় আশপাশের লোকজন এসে তাদের উদ্ধার করে। ঘটনার পরপরই দোহার ফায়ার সার্ভিসের সদস্যরা আধঘণ্টা চেষ্টায় আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনে। ঢাকা জেলা পুলিশের অপরাধ বিভাগের অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ সুপার আমিনুল ইসলাম বলেন, “দগ্ধদের চিকিৎসার জন্য শেখ হাসিনা জাতীয় বার্ন ও প্লাস্টিক সার্জারি ইনস্টিটিউটে ভর্তি করা হয়েছে।” তিনি আরও বলেন, “অবিলম্বে এ ঘটনায় জড়িতদের আটকের চেষ্টা চলছে। এ ব্যাপারে দোহার থানায় একটি মামলা প্রক্রিয়াধীন।”
