5 students injured after fan falls during class in Narayanganj

At least five students were injured when a ceiling fan fell during class in a primary school classroom in Fatulla, Narayanganj. The incident occurred in a second-grade room of Aliganj Government Primary School around 11:30am on Wednesday (May 6).

According to school sources, the ceiling fan suddenly fell down during class. Several students in the classroom were injured. Among the injured, second-grade students Pranjal and Jahanara have been identified.

The identities of the others were not immediately known. However, a major accident was averted as the fan did not fall directly on anyone's head.

School principal Mahmuda Ahmed said that the school building has been in a dilapidated condition for a long time. It is believed that such an accident occurred due to the weakening of various infrastructures of the building.

He also said that an application has already been made to the concerned authorities for the construction of a new building.

In this regard, Narayanganj District Primary Education Officer Ferdousi Begum said that she was not aware of the incident. The matter will be investigated and necessary action will be taken.

After the incident, concerns have arisen among the parents. They have demanded immediate renovation of the risky building or construction of new buildings.
